Gasly loses Monaco podium after FIA appeal ruling

The Monaco Grand Prix result was revised after the FIA’s International Court of Appeal ruled that Pierre Gasly’s pit-lane speeding penalties should stand. McLaren and Red Bull successfully appealed the earlier decision that had removed Gasly’s penalties.

Gasly had been one of several drivers penalised for speeding in the pit lane during the race. It later emerged that the pit-lane measurements were inaccurate, but the appeal court reinstated Gasly’s sanctions, including two five-second penalties.

As a result, Gasly was demoted from third to seventh and lost his podium finish. The change also affected the points tables, with Alpine losing ground in the standings and its deficit to Racing Bulls increasing from three points to 16.
