Pascal Wehrlein secured his second Formula E world championship in a dramatic season finale at the ExCeL in London, becoming only the second driver to win multiple titles in the series. The race featured repeated swings in the title picture as Wehrlein came under pressure from Jaguar TCS Racing’s Mitch Evans and Andretti’s Jake Dennis.
A key moment came on Lap 27, when Wehrlein’s engineer instructed him to let a faster Sebastien Buemi through, reshuffling the order. During Jake Dennis’s first ATTACK MODE, a squeeze from da Costa allowed Dennis to pass for eighth, briefly putting Dennis on top of the virtual standings while Wehrlein dropped to 12th.
Further drama followed on Lap 31 when contact at Turn 16 between Wehrlein and Envision Racing’s Joel Eriksson pushed Wehrlein further back. Despite failing to score a point in the contentious finale, Wehrlein still did enough to clinch the championship.
