Honda changes leadership of its Formula 1 power unit programme

Honda has announced a leadership change in its Formula 1 power unit development programme. Multiple outlets reported that the Japanese manufacturer is replacing project leader and engine development leader Tetsushi Kakuda.

Kakuda is set to be succeeded by his current assistant, Yoichiro Fukao, with the change taking effect on 1 October. Honda Racing Corporation described the move as part of a planned organisational change.

The change comes during Honda's return to Formula 1, which BBC Sport said has had a disappointing start this season. Honda is also linked with Aston Martin as its engine partner ahead of the 2026 season.
