Honda changes leadership of its F1 power unit programme

Honda has announced leadership changes within its Formula 1 power unit programme. Multiple reports said the Japanese manufacturer has replaced the project leader of its F1 engine development effort as part of an organisational reshuffle.

According to the reports, engine development leader Tetsushi Kakuda is set to be succeeded by his current assistant, Yoichiro Fukao, effective from 1 October. Honda Racing Corporation described the move as part of a planned change.

The change comes during Honda's current Formula 1 campaign, which some reports linked to a disappointing start to its return and its effort to improve competitiveness. Honda is also set to become Aston Martin's engine partner from the 2026 season.
