Red Bull says wider fix for recurring start issues is targeted for 2027

Red Bull has acknowledged recurring problems with its Formula 1 car, including start-related issues that have continued to affect results in 2026. Laurent Mekies said the team has made progress this season, but also indicated that the more significant changes needed to turn Red Bull into the reference point for starts will have to wait until 2027.

The team described the underlying problems as complex and outlined that not every fix will arrive during the current campaign. Reports also said the issues have affected both Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar, with Red Bull explaining that some of the "silly" recurring problems cannot all be resolved in 2026.

Following a race in which Verstappen still finished on the podium, there was little satisfaction inside Red Bull. Team members acknowledged that Kimi Antonelli's race pace was out of reach, while frustration remained over the car's continuing operational shortcomings.
