Ferrari reviews costly laps after Austin qualifying and race
Ferrari is looking into where it lost out at the United States Grand Prix after a strong overall weekend was undermined at key moments. Charles Leclerc topped Q2 but only started fourth, and post-weekend analysis focused on the small number of laps that had the biggest impact.

Across the Austin weekend, Ferrari was competitive for much of the running. Charles Leclerc set the pace in Q2, showing the car had the speed to fight near the front in qualifying.
But Ferrari did not convert that form when it mattered most in Q3, and Leclerc ended up starting fourth. Team principal Fred Vasseur said he wants to understand what went wrong in that final qualifying phase.
The broader takeaway from the weekend was that Ferrari was strong on most laps, but the few it missed were especially costly. According to the post-race assessment, those laps were likely what hurt Ferrari most at the United States Grand Prix.
