Verstappen criticises COTA bumps as drivers voice concerns

Ahead of this weekend’s United States Grand Prix, Max Verstappen said the condition of the Circuit of the Americas was unacceptable and out of control because of its bumps. After watching the World Endurance Championship race at COTA, he joked that he might need a new spine after the weekend and warned that if bumps like these are not fixed, drivers could suffer much more spinal damage.

COTA has long been regarded as one of the bumpier tracks on the Formula 1 calendar. George Russell said circuits should be resurfaced every couple of years following Verstappen’s comments about Austin.

Lando Norris also supported Verstappen’s concerns, saying the bumps at some Formula 1 circuits, including COTA, are severe enough that he takes headache tablets before driving.
