Antonelli wins Italian Grand Prix from 19th after late pass on Russell

Kimi Antonelli won the Italian Grand Prix at Monza after starting 19th on the grid, completing a recovery drive for Mercedes in his home race. Multiple reports described the race as incident-packed, and Antonelli said afterwards that the result felt like a "dream coming true" and that he had not expected to be in that position.

George Russell led for much of the race but had to settle for second after Antonelli overtook him late on. The Mercedes one-two was completed with Russell in P2, while Max Verstappen finished third for Red Bull.

The result also marked a notable home victory for Antonelli. In post-race interviews, he said he was "so happy" and that he could never have imagined winning from 19th on the grid.
