Norris says McLaren off the pace in Baku practice
Lando Norris said McLaren was well off the pace after the opening day of practice for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. He described the team’s performance as disappointing after finishing 14th in the first session and sixth in the second.
Norris said McLaren was far from competitive after Friday practice in Baku, calling the team “miles off” the pace. He also described the shortfall as “a little knife in the heart”.
In the opening practice session, Norris was 14th and 1.6 seconds slower than George Russell’s fastest time. Team-mate Oscar Piastri was one second off the benchmark in the same session.
