Leclerc leads Friday practice in Mexico City
Charles Leclerc set the pace in both Friday practice sessions for the Mexico City Grand Prix, completing a Ferrari double-header at the top of the times. In FP2, he led Lando Norris and George Russell, with Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes and Red Bull all featuring near the front.

Leclerc finished fastest in Free Practice 2 at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez with a lap of 1:17.827, making it a Friday double after also topping the opening session. The Ferrari driver was 0.103 seconds quicker than McLaren’s Lando Norris, while Mercedes’ George Russell was third, only 0.003 seconds behind Norris.
Mercedes also placed Kimi Antonelli fourth in FP2, with Max Verstappen fifth for Red Bull, 0.311s off Leclerc’s benchmark. The leading positions suggested several teams were closely matched at the front heading into Saturday.
Friday’s running also included an issue for Lewis Hamilton, whose FP2 ended early because of a power unit problem. Across the day, Ferrari emerged as the early pacesetter, with Leclerc’s form putting the team in focus after practice in Mexico City.
